Bola Abimbola was born and raised in Lagos, Nigeria. His childhood was filled with singing and drumming in the traditions of the Yoruban and West African cultures. His debut solo album, “Silifa Bamijo” (1987), was a runaway success. It launched Bola’s professional career as a singer, songwriter, and producer. He has worked for many of Nigeria’s successful young artists, including Saheed Osupa, Wasiu Alabi Pasuma, Rasheed Ayinde and Shina Akani.
